Everyday in British Columbia more and more rivers are being dammed and are seeing heavy equipment destroying environments. Over five hundred BC rivers are being taken from public hands and if the public knows about them they are taken against the will of the public.  The longterm public capital commitments to these private corporations of $28 billion have a payment schedule starting in 2009.
No benefit and no assets will accrue to those forced to pay the bills, British Columbians. Many hundreds of devastated environments privately held and subjected to US energy security laws with public access blocked is threatening to be this generations legacy to future generations. Today's British Columbians are being subjected to a historical societal change altering the future of the people forever as a corporate takeover of water and water power assets is playing out largely secretly. So experienced, so wealthy and so clever are these corporations that both levels of government in Canada are collaborating in this anti public process. The BC Energy Plan, if not interrupted soon, will cause the population of BC to lose its peace, prosperity and control over its rivers and public electrical energy systems. Since 2002 a Trojan horse has been operating the public utility BC Hydro in an inside attack on water and power. A modern piracy is occurring in BC. A private Caribbean corporation Accenture Consulting operates BC Hydro from within with roots suspected be in the bankrupted and corrupt Enron and Arthur Anderson Consulting. Alarmingly, the BC Government has changed laws and made laws to keep the processes secret. The first time the current government of BC acted aggressively against the public trust in energy was in 2002 when the Energy and Mines Act was changed to shield the dark financial dealings between the public BC Hydro and its private offshore operator Accenture Consulting Inc. In 2006 when one river www.AshluRiver.info one of 535 threatened rivers, was saved in a zoning process a law was made removing zoning controls across the province.  Local governments in BC have seen many of their authorities taken by the current provincial government. Bill 30, removed the rights of Canadians.  The Ashlu is disappearing  into an environmental disaster in the making as it was given away to Ledcor Industries without any respect of the detailed issues brought into the hearings.  Longstanding rights Canadians had held dear for a hundred years cannot be taken without consequences. Today neither people or local governments are stakeholders in the rapid process of private water power developments on rivers in BC. At the end of the exceptionally generous energy purchase contracts which are issued for periods of twenty years from the private operator in the name of BC Hydro to the private water power companies, the river and the facilities are completely theirs along with vast tracks of land beside and under the rivers and creeks which are added to the water power licences later as occupancy permits leading to fee simple land titles. Further tricks remove native rights  in contravention of United Nations Aboriginal Right and the Canadian constitution. Native signatures exchanged in some cases for as little as one percent result eventually in their having signed away their rights and title. Renewable,  perpetual, public, highly valued environmental asset are being taken for nothing from Canadians who then pay the private owners all development costs and profit for two decades. The transition from the peoples hands to private corporate hands of the populations' most important and valuable life sustaining assets, water and water power is occurring. If rivers are the veins of our environment then we are slashing the wrists of our mother earth.

There are growing numbers of websites offering information on this subject. Other sites to see are ashluriver.info and SaveOurRivers ca  Please see the Google Earth map on ippwatch.info displaying all of the rivers in peril. There is a brand new 25 minute video on the Ashlu at www.ashlu.info.
Individuals and groups are getting started on the topic. Environmental groups just within the last months have reported being duped on this subject.
